Lancaster Pride is excited to co-host a special Pride Collection screening of The Queen at Zoetropolis Cinema Stillhouse, featuring a pre-film screening of Amish Country Queer.
Before the groundbreaking documentary The Queen, audiences will experience Amish Country Queer, an award-winning short documentary about Lancaster’s queer nightlife and drag culture, captured through the lens of trans non-binary artist Brady Pappas.
Originally released in 1968, The Queen offers a rare and fascinating look into drag culture decades before it reached mainstream visibility. Centered around the Miss All-American Camp Beauty Pageant in New York City, the film captures the glamour, artistry, humor, and tension behind the scenes as contestants prepare to compete. The documentary also features legendary figures including Crystal LaBeija, whose appearance in the film would later influence the creation of ballroom house culture.
